Ingredients:
- 1 whole brisket 8-10 pounds
- 1 cup dried apricots, chopped
- 1 cup pitted prunes, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- Wood chips for smoking
Instructions:
Get your smoker ready by heating it up to 107F 225C
Put garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper in a bowl
Add smoked paprika and mix well
First, rub the brisket with olive oil
Then, use a lot of the dry rub to cover it all over
Allow the flavors to soak into the brisket by leaving it at room temperature for 30 minutes
To make it taste better, put wood chips in the smoker box
Put the brisket on the grill grates with the fat side facing up
Smoke for 6 to 8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195F 90C
In a saucepan, mix dried apricots, prunes, beef broth, and red wine while the brisket smokes
Slowly cook the mixture over low heat until the fruits are soft and the sauce thickens
Let the brisket rest for 20 minutes after it's done before cutting it across the grain
You can serve the brisket slices with the apricot and prune sauce on top
Have fun with your brisket on the grill with apricots and prunes
